The dates and location for this year’s Splendour in the Grass have been announced, with much speculation still circulating over who is set to perform.
This year’s festival will be held at Woodfordia, the home of the annual Woodford Folk Festival, about 73kms north of Brisbane, from July 30 to August 1. That’s right – THREE days of musical goodness, for the first time in Splendour history.
The festival site has moved this year because the organisers have been working toward establishing a permanent sustainable venue to stage the festival for the last couple of years. They have a site in mind, but the 660-acre allotment is undergoing the red tape process with the NSW Department of Planning for a permanent cultural event venue and won’t be ready for this year’s festival.
And, of course, the show must go on!
The first announcement of artists isn’t due until mid-late April, but already there is a lot of speculation surrounding who MIGHT be on the bill. Some of the names being bandied about in various online forums and media include: Radiohead, The Strokes, Hot Chip, Vampire Weekend, OkGo, Mumford & Sons, The Pixies, Smashing Pumpkins and LCD Soundsystem… Guess we’ll have to wait for the official announcement before we get too excited!
SMAC Magazine will keep you up to date with all the latest Splendour news, so stay tuned for more info soon!
